I went in for cortisone shots this same morning, performed by Dr. Jessen. I was supposed to be leaving for Bear Lake right after with the family but bc the weather was supposed to be bad up there (turns out it wasn't at all) we decided to wait until Friday morning and just take the kids to Hogel Zoo. Boy am I glad I waited to go to Bear Lake. I was so out of it and groggy all morning and come afternoon, my jaw hurt like no other. I was in so much pain; partly bc I refused to take Loratab and stick to IBU 800. But I did go to the zoo, despite how crappy I was feeling. Aspen and Danny always put a smile on my face and we had a fun time watching the monkeys, elephants, and tigers do their thing.Riding the merry-go-round is a must at Hogel Zoo. The kids loved it. Danny wasn't so sure at first but then he totally got into it and was all grins around and around.
Baby Zurie (elephant) is growing at a very slow rate. I swear every year, I think she really hasn't grown much at all. She is still adorable though.
We took the kids around in the wagon and they were happy as can be with their animal water bottles filled with vitamin water.
We shared an ice cream cone and Aspen was good to take turns with Danny. They were a sticky mess afterwards and Danny even threw up on me later...yes, the ice cream.
They had dinosaurs throughout the park that moved and roared as you walked by. Even their eyes moved and the raptors spit water at you. Aspen wasn't a huge fan and as we neared the T-Rex, she asked "can we just keep walking please?" We couldn't convince her that they weren't real. But they were about 2/3 of life size and were pretty life-like.
The kids love this giant water ball fountain thing. They love to rub their hands against the water as it runs along the sides. This was actually right after the downpour that happened and we were running for shelter pulling the wagon. We were drenched and once it stopped, it gave us enough time to play a little at the ball, and leave. But the kids had a great time despite the shorter time we had to spend bc of the rain. We never made it to the giraffes or zebras or bears, but they saw many other animals and just enjoyed an afternoon with Grandma and Grandpa and their favorite Aunt Sarah:)
