The Temple is a House of God

The YSA in Sandy went to the Draper Temple to do Baptisms early this morning. There was a small group of 7 of us and what a blessing it was. I love going to the Temple and the peace that it brings when I go. It seems like life is so much better and the spirit is so much stronger day to day when I do attend the temple. I have a hard time going as often as I should so I have decided to make a better effort of going more often. This year, I have made a goal to go once a month. I am so blessed to have them built all around me, there is really no reason why I can't make it. I have thought deeply about taking out my endowments and have decided I need to make sure I am ready for such a big commitment. So as I go once a month I will continue studying the atonement and the Pearl of Great Price in preparation for that sacred day. I love the beauty of the temples and what a wonderful thing to see their locations expanding all over the world.
It truly is a blessing to have so many as close as we do. As a youth, the closest temple to us was the Dallas Temple which is about 4 hours away. Then in 2000 they built the Houston Temple, about 2 hours away. This one is actually one of my favorites.
And then shortly after we moved they made plans for the San Antonio Temple, an hour away.
I look at others around the world and stories of them saving every last penny just to have enough money so that they can stand on the Temples holy grounds and enter into the Lord's House. They are so beautiful and the work that is done in them is so amazing and sacred.

"As we touch the temple and love the temple, our lives will reflect our faith. As we go to the holy house, as we remember the covenants we make therein, we will be able to bear every trial and overcome each temptation. The temple provides purpose for our lives. It brings peace to our souls—not the peace provided by men but the peace promised by the Son of God when He said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”" -Pres Thomas S Monson

I think this is so true and I know that as I make a better effort to attend the temples around me every month, my life will truly be blessed.

"The temple is truly a place where you are “in the world and not of the world.” When you are troubled and have crucial decisions that weigh heavily on your mind and soul, you can take your cares to the temple and receive spiritual guidance." -Elder Robert D. Hales
