Lake Powell...

This past weekend my mom and I drove up to Lake Powell to pay a visit to Nick, my little brother. It was good times I must say. We rode down with Rex on my lap most of the trip, every once in awhile he would go back onto his bed in the back seat; he liked being right there with me though. We ate munchies on the way up and talked about just stuff. While we were on our way, we completely lost power and my mom had to pull over. She pushed the gas and it didn't go anywhere. So she called my dad and said, "umm...I think our transmission just went out." That's just great. No Lake Powell. But as she was talking on the phone I looked down and realized it had got bumped into neutral. "Um, its in neutral mom, its all good...don't panic" I said...Rex had just climbed into the front seat, so He must have bumped it. Oops :)
We arrived and Rex was anxious to get out of the car and see Nick. We were almost there and Rex began to whine and go nuts when I asked him, "Do you want to go find Nick?" He knows the name. He was quite confused when were began taking all of his things into Nick's trailer, including his crate, 44lbs of food, stash of treats, and all of his squeaky toys. But he did enjoy being able to run wild without being held back by a leash.
Nick's trailer was not clean, so mom and I kinda picked up a little before bringing our stuff in. We slept on an air mattress that hit one wall and the table that was against the other wall...yeah, tiny place. But it works for him. He looks so good and happy. Though I have to admit he looks a little goofy with the dread locks he is growing. They are short and stick up everywhere, but not as bad as I thought they would be. Only he could pull it off to be honest. He has an incredible view from his side yard. Looks out over the beautiful red rock. I am slightly jealous of that.
We went down to the beach for most of the day and had a great time. We only had 2 floaties to lay out on in the water bc Nick left his at his trailer so we had to share. But it worked out. Rex wasn't a huge fan of the water. He stood, pacing at the waters edge and whined while we were all out there. Finally he did come out all on his own, prancing over the waves until he could no longer touch; then he doggie paddled with his short stubby legs. It was pretty cute. He even continued paddling when we picked him up further out. I just giggle thinking about his little front paws paddling up and down in mid air. Oh man I miss him!
We were on our way home from picking up ice cream shakes and Nick decided to go the back way, 4-wheeling. It was pretty awesome but I have never seen my mom so scared in her life..."Nick, don't do this. Don't do this. This scares me. What if we roll." I am not kidding, she was freaking out. Finally she told him to pull over bc she had had enough. So she gets out in a really muddy spot and her flip-flop sinks. As she climbs the hill, she lifts up her foot and says in a funny/mad mixed sort of way, "Look, this is your fault Nick!" We proceed up the hill and she gets back in. It was funny, you have to see it to believe it was funny because my mom doesn't really get mad when it comes to that type of stuff....I don't know, its hard to explain. But she forgave him and got back into the car the rest of the way.
That night we rented a movie and ate tomato sandwiches...fresh tomatoes from the garden, one of my favorites. mm mm good! Rex slept with me for one last night but he didn't sleep well. He kept hearing things and when Nick came in late from being out with friends, he went nuts. Crazy boy...barks at everything. I guess in a way it can be a good thing, no one unwanted would enter your house without not knowing about it. But it was good to sleep with him again. That is one thing I miss most, him being curled up right next to me at night. And then waking up early in the morning to find him under the covers, stretched out on his back with his legs sticking straight up. Oh he makes me smile. Leaving him behind was hard. Especially after everything was loaded and we were ready to go. He jumped into the front seat and sat there, waiting to leave. Nick had a carry him in. And later I found out he was at the door whining for a couple of hours after we left :( ....
I had a good cry on the way home and though I miss him dearly, I know Nick will take very good care of him. In fact he chills with Nick at work. He will sit on the drivers seat of Nick's Samurai Suzuki, every once in a while go into the garage where Nick is working, check to make sure he hasn't left him, and then go back to his seat. I think he is adjusting and I will still be able to see him now and again.
I miss having him around. He is so goofy and gives everyone a good laugh. But this has been good for him, he loves his job, and he is happy.

This is his trailer and his new Samurai Suzuki....the perfect "Nick Car". He loves it!

His side yard view...I told you it was amazing!

Aw...so cute...
Rex likes to get you in the face when you are holding him. Especially when you least expect it...just be sure not to have your mouth open when he does....Soaking up the sun, reading a book, and chillin' with 2 of my favorite people. Sorry Dad, wish you were there too.Just Relax!Nick and his crazy hair...not too badRex was so confused, he kept jumping in the car ready to go home...
