OnE MoMeNt CaN cHaNgE eVeRyThInG!!!

It is amazing what a single event can do to change your life. I have been taking an ice skating class through Utah Valley University and loving every bit of it. Well, we had just learned a new jump, the Waltz Jump, and I was eager to go practice to perfect it on my own time, outside of class. So the following Friday (Feb 27) I went to the rink to practice. I got there, laced up my skates (which I bought just for the class), and went around a few laps to warm up. The next thing I new I was laying in a hospital bed, in ICU, at the hospital in Provo. I had been unconscious for about 9 hours! I seriously thought I was dreaming. The nurse kept telling me I was in an ice skating accident but it just wasn't registering. As I became more aware over the next couple hours they did X-rays on my neck before they removed the neck brace. Earlier they had done a CT and some other things but I don't know what? It was crazy! 9 hours! The doctors really didn't have any answers for my parents because I wasn't waking up, so they were not sure how serious it really was. My parents were in Salt Lake City when it happened and when they were finally able to locate my bag, with my phone, they called them to let them know we were in route on the way to the hospital. I don't remember anything and apparently nobody saw me fall. I was pretty lucky. After a few days in the hospital I finally came home, and basically stayed home the following 4 weeks. The doctors wouldn't let me go to school or work. I couldn't do any type of physical activity at all. I was not allowed to drive either. It was tough and though, the first couple weeks, I didn't really mind because I truly felt like crap, about half way through the third week and into the fourth week I was ready to start doing stuff and I desperately wanted to be better. They diagnosed me with a High moderate/Low severe concussion and a brain injury on the side. Today I am still battling major headaches, ear pains, dizziness, and memory problems. It has been quite the experience. But to be honest, I sorta want to try the ice skating class again because I really did enjoy that which I was able to do. Am I crazy?

You are not crazy, you just need to take it slow and be careful. I'm so glad to hear that you are finally on the mend. We love you!
